The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweden

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) (Swedish: Jesu Kristi Kyrka av Sista Dagars Heliga), headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, has been in Sweden since 1850.[1][2]

In 2010, a significant number of Swedish members of the LDS Church were troubled by contradictions and criticisms of church history. This resulted in a significant number of members disaffiliating from the LDS Church.[3][4][5]

As of 2015 the LDS Church counts its number of members in Sweden to be just above 9000, divided into 5 regional units with a total of 40 congregations.[6] This is a decrease in membership from 2014, which was 9,463.[7] The Church also maintains one temple. The Stockholm Sweden Temple is located in Västerhaninge.
