John Jurasek (born June 21, 1997), colloquially known as Reviewbrah, is an American YouTube personality, food critic, and radio host. He is the host of TheReportOfTheWeek YouTube channel, on which he is well-known for wearing suits of an older style[1], his dry sense of humor, and his manner of speaking, which has been likened to that of an "old-time radio newsman."[2] Reviewbrah was a guest on The Needle Drop Podcast in October 2015[3] and made a cameo appearance on an episode of the television program Tosh.0 in March 2016.[4] He has been featured by several media outlets, including CNN Money, New York, Forbes and Lenta.ru.[2][5][6][7]

Very little is known of his earlier life, other than that he is originally from Southern New York State, attended St. Thomas Aquinas College and presently resides in Central Florida.[8]

Entertainment career

Establishing his YouTube channel in 2011,[2] Reviewbrah's initial focus was on a series of energy drink reviews known as Energy Crisis.[9] He has since diversified to include a food review series, Running On Empty, which focuses on fast food and ready-made meals.[10] A third, as yet unnamed series focuses on reviewing specialty drinks.[11]

Regarding the type of food items featured in his reviews he has stated, “Is every average American going to be eating a steak dinner every night? No. Fast food though, well, there’s usually a McDonald’s every half mile… I want to be applicable to the largest number of people.” [1]

In addition to the three review series, he also produces a series of lectures titled The Idle Mind[12] and Voice of the Report of the Week (VORW)[13], an audio-only program featuring listener mail, general commentary and channel updates. He occasionally uploads miscellaneous videos that are not part of any series, most notably a yearly video depicting his average day.[14]

Radio

In addition to his YouTube offerings, Jurasek hosts a weekly shortwave radio program, VORW Radio International. The program has been transmitted primarily by WBCQ, WWCR and WRMI.[15][16] The program runs for one hour and features commentary and listener-requested music. The show also features regular shoutouts, 20's humor and responses to listener messages, encouraging a community aspect that Jurasek cites as being more positive than his YouTube viewers.

Death hoax

He was incorrectly reported missing in the wake of the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing after a hoax image featuring his likeness was circulated on social media and further disseminated by television news networks.[17] In a video entitled "I am alive"[18] he ended the rumor by showing that he was unharmed and in the United States.
