Thanatopsis is an American progressive rock band[1] comprising prolific guitarist Buckethead, keyboardist Travis Dickerson and drummer Ramy Antoun. Taking its name from the poem by William Cullen Bryant,[2] the band has released four albums: Thanatopsis in 2001, Axiology in 2003, Anatomize in 2006 and Requiem in 2015.

In 2010, Dickerson and Buckethead used unreleased tracks from the recording sessions of Thanatopsis, Population Override as well as The Dragons of Eden to make another album called, Left Hanging.[3] Five years later, in 2015, Dickerson released yet another album, called Requiem, based on previously unreleased material from earlier Thanatopsis recordings which he had found on hard drives that he "hadn't loaded for 10 years".[4]
