Thames Valley Air Ambulance

The Thames Valley Air Ambulance (TVAA, previously the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance) is an organisation providing emergency medical services through the provision of a helicopter air ambulance covering the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire in the South East of England.

As the charity's helicopter is night-capable, it flies a Eurocopter EC135[1] between 7am and 2am,[2] from its base at RAF Benson - roughly halfway between Oxford and Reading - with two pilots and a medical team. It also operates an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV), which, like the helicopter, carries a doctor and paramedic.[1] The ERV is operational between 7am and 7pm.[1]

From 8 March 2018, the charity will appear on Channel 4's TV programme Emergency Helicopter Medics, which follows the crews responding and treating emergency patients.[3] Other air ambulances that will feature in the show include Great North Air Ambulance and East Anglian Air Ambulance.
