Terri Te Tau, of Rangitāne and Ngāti Kahungunu descent,[1] is a New Zealand contemporary artist and writer.[2] She is a member of Mata Aho Collective.[3][4] In 2017 the Mata Aho Collective represented New Zealand at documenta, a prestigious contemporary art exhibition.[3][4][5] This was the first time artists from New Zealand were invited to present their work at this event.[3][6]

Te Tau was raised in the Wairarapa region and received her tertiary education at Massey University.[2] She has been awarded funding to support her work from the Earle CreativityTrust.[7] This lead to an exhibition held at Te Manawa in October 2015.[8] She has held the position of lecturer at the Massey University Whiti o Rehua School of Art.[2][9]
