State Route 77 (SR 77), is an east–west state highway in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The 84.86-mile-long (136.57 km) route traverses Dyer, Gibson, Carroll and Henry counties in West Tennessee.
Route description
SR 77 begins at an interchange junction with U.S. Route 51 (US 51, SR 3) in the Dyer County community of Newbern. It intersects SR 211 (Old US 51) before continuing east to Gibson County. At the town of Dyer, it runs concurrently with US 45W (SR 5). It leaves US 45W in Trenton. SR 77, becoming a primary route at this point, continues eastward to a junction with US 45E (SR 43) and US 79/US 70A (SR 76). SR 77 then follows US 79/US 70A from Milan to Atwood, in Carroll County.[2][3]
As US 70A departs from US 79, SR 77 follows US 70A as its companion as a hidden, or secret designation, from Atwood to Huntingdon, where it follows a part of the Huntingdon Bypass (SR 22 Bypass). At the junction with SR 364, SR 77 reverts back into a secondary route, becoming a north–south route for the remainder of its course, turns northward to Henry County, where it reaches the northern terminus, a junction with US 641 (SR 69) on the southeast side of Paris near that U.S. Highway’s junction with SR 69A.[2][3]
