Tempted[4] (Hangul: 위대한 유혹자; RR: Widaehan Yuhokja; lit. The Great Seducer) is a 2018 South Korean television series starring Woo Do-hwan, Park Soo-yeong, Moon Ga-young and Kim Min-jae. It is loosely based on the French novel titled Les Liaisons dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos.[5] It aired on MBC from March 12, 2018 to May 1, 2018 on Mondays and Tuesdays at 22:00 (KST) time slot for 32 episodes.[6][7][8][9][10]

Synopsis

The television series depicts rich young men and women in their twenties who discover their true feelings while playing the dangerous game of love. In an act of revenge, Kwon Shi-hyun makes a bet with his friends to seduce Eun Tae-hee, who believes people that are swayed by love are pathetic. After Eun Tae-hee meets Kwon Shi-hyun, her view on love starts to change. As Shi-hyun’s secret deepens, he starts to fall in love with Tae-hee. [11]

  • The series is formerly known as Love Game: The Great Seduction (러브게임: 위대한 유혹; Reobeugeim: Widaehan Yuhok).[5]
  • Yeo Jin-goo was first offered the male lead role, but declined.[19]
  • The first script reading of the cast was held on January 16, 2018 at MBC Station in Sangam-dong.[20]

Reception

The series recorded the lowest rating ever in MBC's history, receiving only 1.6%, according to Nielsen Korea, The lead actors met with heavy criticism due to their poor acting as well as viewers labelling the development and direction distracting.[21] The series further broke its own record by receiving a 1.5% rating in its subsequent broadcast.[22]
