The Tata Hexa is a mid-size SUV manufactured by Indian passenger and commercial vehicles manufacturer Tata Motors. The SUV, which was originally unveiled in the 2015 Geneva Motor Show[1], was launched into the Indian markets in January 2017[2]. The Tata Hexa is based on the company's previously used Aria platform, with a body-on-frame chassis.
On the design front, the Hexa uses Tata's IMPACT design language[3]. Hexa is only the second car in Tata's newest vehicle lineup (which consists of the Tata Tiago, Tata Tigor, Tata Nexon and the upcoming Tata Harrier) to use the company's IMPACT design language. The company uses its three design studios in India, the UK and Italy for designing cars in this design framework. Newer Tata cars like the Tata Harrier are expected to be based on Tata's Impact Design 2.0 design language.[4]
The name "Hexa" comes from the English word, Hex, which is used to depict the number "6".
