Taras Dron (Ukrainian: Тарас Дронь; born 6 March 1980) – Ukrainian film director, producer, screenwriter, member of Ukrainian Film Academy.

Biography

Taras Dron was born in Ivano-Frankivsk on 6 March 1980. In 2004, he graduated from Lviv Polytechnic National University, with a degree in Information Protection. After that he worked as a specialist in Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. Since 14 years, he has been interested in photography, but he perceived it as a hobby. Since 2007, he has been actively engaged in the creation of music video clips, advertising, corporate video. In 2016, he graduated from the film school in Łódź. Since 2017, he has been conducted educational intensities for directors and operators.

Creative contribution

He shoots music video for DZIDZIO, Tatiana Kotova, Kozak System, Pavlo Tabakov and others. Since 2010, he owns the Nord Production Film Studio. He works on the promotional videos of such brands as Mayola, Opillia, Verest, Greenville, Tikaferlux, Money for everybody, Farmak, Yuriy-Farm, tickets.ua, rabota.ua, etc.

In 2013, he created his short film "Touch and See"and received awards for the best short film at the XVI International Brigantine Film Festival,[1] an audience award at the International Short Film Festival "Wiz-Art"”[2], an audience award and for the best female role at the IV Truskavets International Film Festival of Television Films "The Crown of the Carpathians",[3] the second prize at the Rivne International Film Festival "Dream City".[4]

In 2016, he graduated from the Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź at the Film Directorate (PWSFTviT, Łódż). He took an active part in student`s films: directing collaboration, co-writer, actor. During his studies, he created two more short films, the documentary ”Ostap” and the game movie "Chornohora". These films were selected for the competition program of Ukrainian film festivals: Odessa International Film Festival[5],, Kyiv International Film Festival "Molodist"[6], Docudays[7] and European film festivals[8] such as XXV Festiwal Mediów w Łodzi "Człowiek w Zagrożeniu", 19. MFFD OFF CINEMA, 13th Nahal short film festival, 4th Indian Cine Film Festival-2016, Paris Play Film Festival, High Coast International Film Festival.

The film "Chornohora" was awarded a special jury awardі[9] at the Ismailia International Film Festival in Egypt[10] and selected for the best Ukrainian films for 2016[11] and the film was in the Ukrainian box office as part of the Ukrainian film almanac 20/16 +, second prize at the Rivne International Film Festival "Dream City",[12] prize of spectator sympathies at the international festival of short films "Wiz-Art".[13]

In creative collaboration with DZIDZIO, he shot five more short films: "A Letter to Nicholas", "Angely Chudiatsia", "Spider", "Going to Mom", "Marsik".

In 2016,he finished working on full length documentary "When It Blinds Down" in director and producer cooperation with the Polish director Anel Astrid Gabriel. This film won the student competition at one of the most prestigious film festivals in Amsterdam (IDFA).[14]
