Tanner Fritz (born August 20, 1991) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward currently playing for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Playing career
Fritz played for the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for four years.[1] He attended Ohio State University, and played for the Ohio State Buckeyes men's ice hockey team. He served as the team's captain in his senior year.[2][3]
Fritz played for the Missouri Mavericks of the ECHL in the 2015–16 season. He tried out for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League during the 2015–16 season, and made the team.[4] He signed a two-way contract with the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL) in March 2017.[5] The Islanders promoted Fritz to the NHL on January 1, 2018,[6][7] and he recorded his first NHL goal on February 19 against the Minnesota Wild.[8]
