Tales of Sherwood Forest is a seven-part British television comedy drama series, first broadcast on 11 June 1989, that aired on ITV. The series centres on Eric (Pete Postlethwaite) the coffee owner of a night-club in Nottingham who has nothing to do with Robin Hood. Instead, he is obsessed by the film Casablanca (1942) and dreams of being Rick Blaine. The series was written and created by Alan Plater and produced by Central Independent Television.[1]
The series also starred Jill Baker, David Troughton, Robin Soams, Wayne Foskett, Bee Jaye and Jack Carr in supporting roles. A tie-in novel, also written by Neil McKay, was published on 15 June 1989.[2] Notably, the series has never been released on DVD.
It was axed after just one series.
