The Takhar University (Persian: پوهنتون تخار; TU) was established with the name Abdullah bin Msoud by Burhanuddin Rabbani, outside Afghanistan. It registered within the Ministry of Education's registry in 1994.[1] In May 2010, the university had 1572 students (1406 male and 166 female) and 47 teachers (42 male and 5 female).
