TV 2 Nyhetskanalen (TV 2 News Channel) is a 24-hour Norwegian language television news channel which started broadcasting on 15 January 2007. It is Norway's first national news network in Norwegian, although Nyhetskanalen did exist from 1997 to 1998.

Its main office is located in Bergen.

Programming

TV 2 Nyhetskanalen broadcasts from 6:30am to 10:30am and from 3pm to 6:30pm from Oslo, and is also responsible for God Morgen Norge's news bulletins every half-hour in the morning. At all other times the network broadcasts from its main office in Bergen. News from 7pm to 9pm can either be seen on both places. The 6:30 pm News and The Main News 9:00 pm is always broadcast from the headquarters in Bergen. At any point, the programming can be interrupted for the much-advertised breaking news.

Weekdays

The network has live broadcast with two anchors on studio from 6am till 11:30pm, but it is manned all night long so that the network can quickly break into its night-schedule for big breaking news events. Its night-schedule only consists of Nyhetshjulet ('The News Wheel') which shows yesterday's news reports without an anchored introduction. At all times (except during commercials) there is a news ticker at the bottom of the screen, and today's date and exact time beneath the network's logo.

The news ticker's contents are updated all day long by TV2 News, NTB, TV2 Sport and NA24.no.

Weekends

At weekends the network has its own morning show called Nyhetsfrokost ('Breakfast News'), broadcast live from 8am to 11:30am (previously it started at 9am). The daytime slot (until 1:30pm) is also used for re-runs of the weeks news programs and selected documentaries - such as "Korrespondenten" ('The Correspondent'), focusing on a recent international news stories, and "Økonomimagasinet" ('Economy Magazine').

After this, and outside overnights, the channel shows news updates in a looped format, but updated continuously.

Breakthrough

Its breakthrough came at 2pm on 13 January 2007, two days before its planned launch date, when the channel had a breaking news report about the environmental disaster outside Fedje, breaking into broadcast on its mother channel TV 2. During this breaking news broadcast, Lene Østby Sævrøy and Espen Fiveland anchored the broadcast.

Terje Svabø and Mah-Rukh Ali lead the first ordinary broadcast on 15 January 2007 at 12 noon.
