Tübingen (electoral district)

Location of constituency in Baden-Württemberg

Tübingen is one of the 299 single member constituencies used for the German parliament, the Bundestag. One of thirty eight districts covering the state of Baden-Württemberg, it contains the county of Tübingen and, from the county of Zollernalbkreis, the collective municipalities of Bisingen, Burladingen, Grosselfingen, Hechingen, Jungingen and Rangendingen.[1] The constituency elects one representative under the mixed member proportional representation (MMP) system. Under the current constituency numbering system, it is designated as constituency 290.

The constituency was created for the 1980 election, drawing much of its electorate from the Reutlingen constituency. With the exception of the 1998 election, which was won by the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), every election has been won by the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) since its creation. The current representative is Annette Widmann-Mauz, who was elected for the fourth time in 2013.[2]
