Szadek [ˈʂadɛk] is a town in Zduńska Wola County, Łódź Voivodeship, Poland, with 1,976 inhabitants (2016).[1]

History

In 1921, there were 535 Jews out of the total 3,058 residents in Szadek. At that time, the Jewish population was concentrated mostly along Sieradzka Street, where they constituted almost 90% of inhabitants.[2] During World War II, 410 Jews were imprisoned in a ghetto. On 14 August 1942, all of its inhabitants were deported to the Chełmno extermination camp.[3][4]
