Szabolcs Fazakas

Szabolcs Fazakas (born 26 October 1947 in Budapest) is a Hungarian politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Hungarian Socialist Party, part of the Party of European Socialists. On 23 July 2004 he was elected Chair of the Committee on Budgetary Control. Mr. Szabolcs Fazakas was elected to the European Court of Auditors, despite the fact that he had voluntarily joined the Hungarian Secret Service during the communist dictatorship and worked there for more than 13 years as a secret agent.[1] Szabolcs Fazakas was the Hungarian Ambassador to Germany in 1996.[2]

Personal life

He is married. His wife is Judit Benkő. They have two sons, Gergely and Balázs.[3]
