2011/12

Alok Kapali was the icon player for Sylhet Royals. The team was led by Englishman Peter Trego. The team bought talented players such as batsmen Imrul Kayes, Scott Styris, Kamran Akmal and more. They had brilliant bowlers of the likes of Sohail Tanvir, Brad Hogg, Rubel Hossain including some others. The most expensive player, Sohail Tanvir was bought for $100,000. Australian Stuart Law was made the coach.

Even with this strong squad, they could qualify for the semis as the finished last in the league stage with gaining only 2 victories in the 10 matches the team played.

2012/13

They team signed Mushfiqur Rahim, Sohag Gazi, Paul Stirling, Hamilton Masakadza, Elton Chigumbura, Dirk Nannes, Mominul Haque and more from the auction. Locally experienced Mohammad Salahuddin was made the coach.

Thanks to this decent team, they qualified for the playoffs but couldn't reach the final.

2015/16

The team had a rebranding and was known as Sylhet Superstars which was owned by Alif Group, the previous owner of now-defunct Barisal Burners. Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi, English all-rounder Ravi Bopara, Bangladeshi seamer and Rubel Hossain, experienced spinner Abdur Razzak and icon/captain Mushfiqur Rahim were the few star players on the team.

Locally experienced Sarwar Imran was made the head coach of the team.

They team lost to the Chittagong Vikings and Barisal Bulls early on and went on to lose many more as they finished 5th out of the 6 participating teams, managing only 3 wins thus did not qualify for the playoffs.

2016/17

The team was suspended as the owner misbehaved with Tamim Iqbal and lost their ownership.

2017/18

The team returns in BPL 5 as Sylhet Sixers. The team is bought by Sylhet Sports Ltd. in care of Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith. The current icon player is Sabbir Rahman. Foreign players include Krishmar Santokie, Babar Azam, Liam Plunkett and more. The team signed all-rounder Nasir Hossain, wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan and orthodox spinner and Taijul Islam pre-draft

In the draft, pacer Abul Hasan was their first pick. Their first foreign pick was Lankan all-rounder Chaturanga de Silva. Their surprise picks were little-known inexperienced Pakistani pacer Ghulam Mudassar, averaging more than 40 with the ball and picking up a solitary wicket in the 2 matches.

The team started their campaign with 4 wins in a row on their home turf. Andre Fletcher and Upul Tharanga turned out to be destructive at the top. Skipper Nasir Hossain bowled well so did Liam Plunkett. After Upul’s contract came to an end and Liam suffered and injury, the team starter to fall apart. In the end, the team finished 5th of 7 teams hence they were disqualified.
