Sydney Scotia (born Sydney Dodick, c.1997) is an American-Canadian actress and dancer who became known by playing Geneva in the TV series Some Assembly Required.

Biography

Sydney Dodick was born on September 8, 1997 in Rochester, Minnesota. Her parents, Paula and David, named her for their hometown of Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. She later extended that link by using Scotia for her stage surname. She has one brother. When she was 11 months old, her family moved to Arizona.[1] Since she was a child, she took dancing classes and rythmic gymnastics. When she was 10, she was in Hong Kong to support olympic gold medal winner Olga Korbut on a gymnastics goodwill tour.[2]

Scotia played in various commercials and short films. In 2014, she landed her first major role in the Canadian children series Some Assembly Required, where she played Geneva Hayes.[3] For this role, she received the Joey Award for best young actress in a lead role in a comedy series for two consecutive years (2014, 2015),[4] as well as a 2016 LEO award nomination. In the same year, she guest starred in The Haunted Thundermans, a crossover between The Haunted Hathaways and The Thundermans. In 2018, Scotia appeared in a main role on the television series ReBoot: The Guardian Code.
