Sychnochlaena is a genus of moths belonging to the family Tortricidae.[1] It contains only one species, Sychnochlaena megalorhis, which is found in Sri Lanka.[2]

Description

Wingspan of adult female is 14.5 mm. Head and palpus light tawny. Palpus long and porrect. Antennae subsernilate in female. Antenna light tawny. Thorax deep tawny with a posterior large, erect, blackish tuft. Abdomen glossy gray. Thorax with a large erect posterior crest. In fore wing, anterior half is tawny-grayish with olive suffusion. Costa with slender, vertical dark lines. There are two fuscous spots in cell. Cilia pale orange at apex and fuscous in tornus. Hind wings bronze-grayish. They are semi-pellucent, becoming whitish and more transparent basally. Cilia dark bronze-fuscous, with a pale basal band.[3]
