SweetWorks Confections, LLC is a candy and chocolate manufacturer headquartered in Buffalo, New York. SweetWorks manufactures high quality chocolates in Buffalo and produces Sixlets® Chocolatey Candies, Gumballs, Tableted Gum, Pressed Dextrose Candies and Jawbreakers at their plant in Toronto.
In 2016 SweetWorks had around 450 full-time employees.
History
SweetWorks Confections began as Niagara Chocolates®, a small, regional chocolate manufacturer in Buffalo. The company was family owned and operated. Niagara Chocolates acquired Oak Leaf Confections in 1998. SweetWorks Confections, LLC was formally created in 2002.
Effective January 1st, 2014 SweetWorks was acquired by Chocolat Frey AG, Switzerland, Switzerland’s #1 Chocolate Manufacturer.
Brands
SweetWorks owns several brands under which their high-quality products are sold into the retail market.
Chocolat Frey: The #1brand of chocolate in Switzerland, Chocolat Frey, was launched in February 2016 into the US market. These exquisite products are 100% Swiss Chocolate manufactured using a bean to bar process with GMO-free ingredients.
Celebration by Frey: The best brand for color-themed parties and events. Celebration by Frey offers candies, gumballs and chocolatey candies in a multitude of colors and pack sizes to make every occasion spectacular.
Sixlets: Sixlets is colorful gluten-free and nut-free chocolatey candy that has been on the market for many years.
Niagara by Frey: Formerly called Niagara Chocolates, the original chocolate brand is sold mainly locally in Western New York. Many of the products are well liked due to the company’s long history in Fundraising.
Ovation by Frey: Acquired from Hershey in 2003 this innovative brand offers filled break-a-parts and sticks in various flavors.
Oak Leaf: High quality gumballs, jawbreakers and candy with various flavors and colors have been sold under the name Oak Leaf for over 40 years.
Fundraising
With Niagara by Frey (formerly Niagara Chocolates) SweetWorks has a long tradition in Fundraising. Twice a year for Easter and Holiday season, SweetWorks provides several hundred schools and kids with candy products for their individual fundraisers. The Niagara by Frey chocolate bar variety packs are available all year round.
The Fundraising business is an important part of the local culture and as such highly valued at SweetWorks.
