The Swadeshi Jagaran Manch is a political and cultural organisation founded in 1991. It promotes national self reliance. Its background is in the Swadeshi movement that was part of the Indian independence movement. It is an affiliate of the Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh that deals with economic issues.[2][3] Swaminathan Gurumurthy is a co-convener of the organisation.[4]
Political positions
Since at least 2015 the SJM has been critical of foreign direct investment.[5][6]
The SJM advocates the use of freshly cooked food to fight malnutrition, in preference to ready to use therapeutic foods.[7]
