Susan Bandes is an American lawyer, currently the Centennial Distinguished Professor[1] at DePaul University.[2] Bandes is one of the 20 most cited law professors in criminal law and procedure.[3]

Biography

Bandes joined the DePaul faculty in 1984, and was named Distinguished Research Professor in 2003 and Centennial Distinguished Professor in 2012. She has written more than 50 articles, and is among the most widely cited law professors in the field of criminal law and procedure. Her work appears in, among others, the Yale,[4] Stanford,[5] University of Chicago,[6] Michigan[7] and Southern California law reviews,[8] as well as interdisciplinary journals like Law and Social Inquiry,[9] the Annual Review of Law and Social Science,[10] and the Law and Society Review.[11]

Her book, entitled The Passions of Law,[12] was published by NYU Press in 2000.[13] She has been a visiting professor at the University of Chicago Law School[14] and Northwestern Law School,[15] a visiting scholar at NYU Law School [16] and the Berkeley Center for the Study of Law and Society, and Distinguished Visiting Scholar at the University of New South Wales.[17]

Bandes is a member of the American Law Institute,[18] and has long been active in the Law and Society Association,[19] where she is the founder (with Jill Hunter (University of New South Wales) and Jody Madeira (University of Indiana)), of the Collaborative Research Network on Law and Emotion.[20]
