Surviv.io

Surviv.io is a free browser based multiplayer online battle royale game , released in October 2017,[1]and released for iOS and Android in October 2018. Similar to other titles in the genre, players battle against other players on a large map from a top-down perspective,[2] scavenging for supplies and weapons.[3][4][5] The game also supports two or four player team modes,[3] and can be played on mobile browsers as well.[6]

Gameplay

Players are represented by circular figures on a 2D grid-like playing field, surrounded by a circular "red zone" that shrinks as the game progresses.[3] Players start with only their fists, while extra gear such as armor, backpacks and weapons can be found across the map in crates, houses and other buildings.[1][7][3][8] Weapons range from close range shotguns and SMGs to long range assault rifles, and grenades.[1] Scopes can be found that give players a wider view of their surroundings.[3]

Development

Surviv.io is by Justin Kim and one other developer.[9] He stated that his design philosophy while developing the game was to allow the player to enter a game as fast as possible by minimizing the time in between matches.[9]

Reception

PC Gamer praised the game's fast paced gameplay and short matchmaking times,[3] and called it "one of the most enjoyable BR games out there."[2]

Ben Burns, writing for VG247, named the game the "third most popular battle royale title after Fortnite and PUBG".[9]
