Summit Racing Equipment is a mail order automotive performance equipment supply house selling parts for race vehicles, off-road vehicles, and street-driven vehicles.

History

1968

Summit Racing Equipment was started in 1968 as a part-time, one-person business operated out of a spare bedroom. The owner and founder is an engineer with a passion for fast cars - especially Corvettes.[1]

1969-1987

In 1969 Summit Racing Equipment opened its first store in Akron, Ohio. The company's early product line included performance parts from Accel, Holley, Mallory, Hurst, and Mickey Thompson Throughout the 1970s and '80s, Summit Racing Equipment continued to grow, and the company’s Summit Racing Catalog grew from an annual buyers guide to a bi-monthly publication.

1992-1999

In 1992 the company moved its headquarters to a larger facility at 1200 Southeast Avenue in Tallmadge, Ohio. With a larger Retail Store and Distribution Center, the company expanded its product offering to include truck, SUV, and Jeep-specific parts.

2002-2007

In 2002, the doors of Summit Racing Equipment's new 25,000-square-foot (2,300 m2) Retail Super Store opened in Tallmadge, Ohio.

In 2007, Summit Racing Equipment acquired Genuine Hotrod Hardware from Gary Case, a direct mail company specializing in apparel, decor, gifts and other hot rod lifestyle products.

In 2015, Summit Racing Equipment launched a line of replacement starters and alternators.

Ray Tatko is the current President of Summit Racing Equipment.
