Sujawal (Urdu: سجاول), is an historical and a densely populated city. Sujawal population is about 800,000. Previously, it was old Taluka of Thatta District, Sindh, Pakistan. The Government of Sindh has granted Sujawal the status of a district and after the approval of Chief Minister Sindh, a notification has been issued by Revenue Department on 12 October 2013. The new district would comprise Sujawal, Kharochan, Mirpur Bathoro, Jati and Shah Bander talukas. It is located at about 20 km west of Thatta on the road Badin to Karachi. Sujawal is an agricultural city with a few industries located near it. Sujawal is a multi community and ethnic city containing different sects and religions.

Sujawal got its name from its illustrious resident, Sujawal Khaskheli, who was of loyal servant of 19th century Sindh ruler Mir Fateh Ali Khan. According to books on history of Sujawal, the town has its beginnings in a small village known as Maanjar because of its wetlands. Sujawal has produced many illustrious personalities who have rendered valuable services for society like ,Syed Hajji Abdul Raheem (Syed Haji AbdulRaheem Shah) who was a very religious person, he built the largest religious Maddarsas of Sindh Maddarsa Hashmia, people came here from all regions and provinces of Pakistan to gain religious education and statics, Syed Abdul Raheem Shah have has the thousands of acres of agricultural lands he also built so many mosques in Sujawal district he built Jaamia Mosque of Sujawal, Mr. Raheem Shah endowed his entire wealth into 3 categories: 1 for the very large parts he endowed to the government of Pakistan, 2. for the poor peoples of Sujawal, and 3. for his relatives and Family members. Syed Abdul Raheem shah has the Pakistan's Largest endow in History named Wakuf-e-Raheemi. Syed Haji Meher Ali Shah Bkhari who was the deputy speaker of west Pakistan Assembly.

Sujawal is an agricultural city, but few industries also located in surrounding it, like Lar Sugar Mill and Dewan motors. Sujawal is a multi community and ethnic city. People from different sect and religion live in Sujawal. Sujawal climate is moderate, winter is cold and summer is bit hot. As well humidity in this area too. Sujawal is near the sea. During winter seasonal birds migrate from Siberia and Russia in this area lakes. In Indus river there is famous fish called Palla, is famous in this area, now breeding of that fish is diminishing every year due to water shortage in river Indus. It has been a political centre of the District, mainstream parties in Sujawal are PPP, MQM, JUI, PMLN, JUP, PMLF, JSQM, PPPSB and others. There are two Provincial Assembly seats PS 86 and PS 87 and one National Assembly seat NA 238 in the District Sujawal.
