Sugarthief

Sugarthief are an Indie-rock band from Penkridge, Staffordshire in England. The four-piece band consists of Jack and Jordi James (brothers), and school friends Luke Owen and Reece Downton.

Their unique sound has led their debut single 'New ends' to be featured on BBC Introducing WM, and their second single 'Crowing Youth' to reach over 1000 plays within the first week of its release.

The band formed in the summer of 2015, and began with Jack and Jordi as a duo before Reece and Luke joined.[1]

Jordi is the lead singer of the band, and also plays guitar and bass, whilst his brother Jack is the lead guitarist and backing vocals. Reece plays drums and Luke is the bassist of the band.

Many of their songs focus on the issues of small town life, with the song "Leavin'" beginning with the lyrics 'This town's getting far too small for me'.

Influences

The band's influences include Dan Croll, Peace, Swim Deep, Catfish & the Bottlemen, Jaws, Rat Boy, Ed Sheeran, The Kooks, and Circa Waves to name but a few, and Jack and Jordi blame their early influences on their dad's old band-playing days.
