Sudeep Sarkar

Sudeep Sarkar from the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL was named Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2013[1] for contributions to computer vision. He is a professor and chair of the department of computer science and engineering at the University of South Florida, Tampa[2].

Scientific Career

Sarkar has made many influential contributions to the field of biometrics, specifically gait biometrics[3], burn scar and skin analysis[4], and other areas in computer vision, particularly perceptual organization, segmentation and grouping, and to the evaluation of vision algorithms[5].

Honors

Sudeep Sarkar is a fellow of International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR)[5], Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE)[1], American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS)[6], American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE)[4]. In 2016, he was inducted into the National Academy of Inventors (NAI)[7][8][9][10][11].
