Styraconyx is a genus of tardigrades in the family Styraconixidae[1] The genus was named and described by Renaud-Mornant in 1974
Its etymology is Greek styrax or styrakos and onyx (onyx).
The genus name gave the name to its own family of tardigrades named in 1983, no second y would be used as it would have an i.
