Strange but True is an upcoming American noir-thriller directed by Rowan Athale from a screenplay by Eric Garcia. The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by John Searles and will star Margaret Qualley, Amy Ryan and Greg Kinnear among others. Fred Berger will produce.

Premise

"A young woman suddenly finds herself pregnant five years after the death of her boyfriend. When she confronts his family with the idea that this child could be his, the truth begins to unravel."[1]

  • Margaret Qualley as Melissa, Ronnie’s girlfriend and a young woman who survived a car crash that killed her boyfriend, only to discover that five years later she might be pregnant with his child.

  • Connor Jessup as Ronnie Chase, Melissa's deceased boyfriend and the possible father of her child. He died in a car accident on their prom night that Melissa survived.

Production

On May 15, 2017, Strange But True was announced as being introduced to buyers at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. The majority of the main cast was also revealed. The film was scheduled to start principal production in June 2017, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.[2] On June 27, 2017, Mena Massoud joined the cast.[1]

Principal production begin in Toronto, Canada on June 12, 2017 and wrapped on July 12, 2017.[3]

Release

In February 2018, CBS Films acquired distribution rights to the film.[4]
