Steven M. Landek (born December 23, 1955) is a member of the Illinois Senate representing the 12th district since his appointment in 2011.[1] The 12th district includes all or parts of Bridgeview, Burbank, Bedford Park, McCook, Brookfield, Riverside, Berwyn, and Cicero.[2] Prior to the 2011 redistricting he represented the 11th district. He is currently the Mayor of Bridgeview[3] and the Lyons Township Democratic Committeeman.[4]
As mayor, Landek oversaw the construction of Toyota Park, the home of the Chicago Fire Soccer Club and the Chicago Red Stars. The resulting debt has strained Bridgeview's finances and caused Standard & Poor's to downgrade the village's bond rating to junk-level in 2017.[5][6]
State Senator
In the Senate, Senator Landek currently serves as Vice-Chairpeson of the Human Services Committee and is assigned to Appropriations II, Commerce, Revenue and Local Government.
