Stanovc

Stanovc is one of biggest villages in Kosovo its located near the city of Vučitrn in the Mitrovica District of northeastern Kosovo.[lower-alpha 1] It is made up of two villages: Upper Stanovc[1] and Lower Stanovc.[2] Stanovc is situated between the river Sitnica and the Pristina-Mitrovica road. It is approximately 15 km (9 mi) from the Pristina. The village has a population of about 3700, and the land is mainly used for agriculture. The mountain of Čičavica rises to a height of 1,091 m (3,579 ft) to the west of the village.

The Republic of Kosovo unilaterally declared independence on 17 February 2008, but Serbia continues to claim it as part of its own sovereign territory. The two governments began to normalise relations in 2013, as part of the Brussels Agreement. Kosovo has received formal recognition as an independent state from 113 out of 193 United Nations member states.
