The St. Claire Cathedral [1] (Spanish: Catedral de Santa Clara ) also called Villarrica Cathedral[2] is the name given to a religious building affiliated with the Catholic Church which is located in the town of Villarrica[3] in the southern part of the South American country of Paraguay, in the so-called East region; and capital of the 4th department of Guaira.

The temple follows the Roman or Latin rite and is the mother of the Diocese of Villarrica of the Holy Spirit (Dioecesis Villaricensis Spiritus Sancti)[4] which was created in 1929 by the bull "Universi Dominici" of Pope Pius XI.

Its history dates back to 1683 when the Franciscans built a chapel in the same place. The current structure was completed in 1891 it has a clock tower and three bells being the oldest of the year 1781. This under the pastoral responsibility of the Bishop Ricardo Jorge Valenzuela Rios.
