Spittal is a small hamlet, in Caithness, Scottish Highlands and is in the Scottish council area of Highland. Spittal lies 9 miles south of Thurso, and 1.5 miles north of Mybster. The main A9 road runs past Spittal.

Industry

A nearby electrical substation is the landing point for a 1200 MegaWatt high-voltage direct current submarine power cable to Blackhillock near Keith, Moray in northeast Scotland, crossing the Moray Firth.[1][2][3] Another cable from Shetland is planned to reach Spittal.[4][5]
