Spilargis is a spider genus of the Salticidae family (jumping spiders). Its sole species, Spilargis ignicolor, occurs in New Guinea.[1] A subspecies, Spilargis ignicolor bimaculata, is found on the Moluccas.

Name

The genus name is probably derived from the Ancient Greek roots spil- "spot" and arg- "shining". The species name is Latin for "the color of fire". bimaculata is Latin for "with two spots".
