History

The company Chunsoft was founded by Koichi Nakamura, a video game designer and programmer who had clasped with Enix. The "Chun" in the company name, is from the company founder name's first kanji Naka (), meanwhile Naka is read as "Chun" in Japanese Mahjong.[4] Spike Chunsoft is the creator of the Mystery Dungeon series, the first five installments of the Dragon Quest series of role-playing video games, and the graphic adventure game series Danganronpa and Zero Escape.

In 2017, Spike Chunsoft established a North American subsidiary based in Long Beach, California to carry out future localization of its games in addition to projects developed by 5pb games parent company Mages under a newly formed partnership.[5]
