Specialist Crime & Operations
Specialist Crime & Operations (SC&O) was one of the main branches of the London Metropolitan Police Service. It was created by the merger of Specialist Crime Directorate and Central Operations[1] The Directorate reformed and now sits within Specialist Operations which is led by Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu.[2] The Directorate was the lead national police agency with regard to specialist crime investigations such as e-crime, sex crimes (paedophile unit) or kidnappings, hostage taking and contract killings.
It encompassed several departments:[3]

- The Traffic and Traffic Criminal Justice Unit
- The Homicide and Serious Crime Command

- Forensic Operations
- Forensic Services
- Fingerprint Services
- Gangs and Organised Crime
- Specialist, Organised & Economic Crime Command
