The Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency, also known by the acronym AESA (Spanish: Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea), is the national aviation authority for Spain.

The agency is based in Madrid, where it currently occupies offices in the AZCA district (General Peron Avenue), pending the refurbishment of a building on the Paseo de la Castellana.[2]

History

The agency was set up in 2008,[3] taking over supervisory duties from the Dirección General de Aviación Civil (DGAC),[4] a division of the Ministry of Development, the former Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

Its 2015 budget was € 74 million.[1]
