The Team Solent Kestrels are an English basketball team based in Eastleigh, Hampshire with junior teams from under-12's up to Men's and Women's in National League Division 1.

History

The club was formed in 1998 by Jimmie and Bev Guymon who wanted somewhere for their son and other youngsters in the area to play competitive basketball. Originally set up to offer junior basketball to boys teams from under-13's to under-18's, the club, which is now partnered with Southampton Solent University, offers junior basketball to boys and girls from under-10 up to under-18 National League level.

The club is also partnered with Itchen College who offer EABL to some of the counties top basketball players.

In addition to junior basketball, the club offers top-level senior basketball with 4 teams playing at National League level, Division 1 Men's, Division 1 Women's, Division 2 (South) Women's & Division 3 (South) Men's teams.

Famous Players

The club has produced several players who have gone on to play at the highest levels of basketball:

Joel Freeland, formerly of the Portland Trailblazers in the NBA, now playing for CSKA Moscow.
Will Neighbour, playing with the Canterbury Rams in New Zealand and recently with the Surrey Scorchers of the British Basketball League.
Carl Josey, has played for several teams in the British Basketball League and English Basketball League, most recently with Hemel Storm.
