Soldier Plate Carrier System

Soldier Plate Carrier System printed with a MultiCam camouflage pattern

The Soldier Plate Carrier System or SPCS is a lightweight bulletproof vest developed for the U.S. Army which provides protection at least as good as the Improved Outer Tactical Vest.[1]

Fitting features include adjustable straps, a cummerbund, padded shoulders, and quick release. Functional accessories include ballistic plates and Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment (MOLLE) webbing. With ballistic plates it weighs about 22 pounds.[1]

Contractors include KDH Defense Systems (first generation), and Carter Enterprises (second generation).[1]

The United States Marine Corps uses the Scalable Plate Carrier and the heavier Modular Tactical Vest. The British Armed Forces use Osprey body armour.
