Solar Bones

Solar Bones is a 2016 novel by Irish fiction writer Mike McCormack.

The novel tells the story of Marcus Conway, a middle-aged engineer who turns up one afternoon at his kitchen table and begins to consider the events that took him away and then brought him back to life and home again. Through being both funny and strange, written as a single sentence, the novel plays with form and defies convention, with everything in the book recalled. While an elegy, the story is also a story of order and chaos, of love as well as loss, and how minor decisions ripple into waves and test human integrity every day. Probing into what it means to play out the various roles of husband, father, son, brother, colleague and neighbour, the story of Conway also offers the reader an acerbic although often very funny response to contemporary Irish masculinity.[1][2]

Solar Bones won the 2018 International Dublin Literary Award.[1]
