Soham Chakraborty is an Indian film actor and producer who appears in Bengali films. He started his acting career as a child artist at the age of three as Master Bittu, and also appeared in the film Shakha Proshakha, a film by Satyajit Ray. As an adult he starred in Chander Bari, and has acted in several successful films including Prem Aamar (2009).[1][2]
Acting career
Soham Chakraborty debuted in 1987 Bengali film Chhoto Bou, at that time he was 2 years and 6 months old.[3] His first film at a young age was Chander Bari.[4] His next Big Budget film was Bajimaat directed by Haranath Chakraborty, Produced by Piyus Saha which was a success at the box office. Chakraborty has described the difficult phase in his acting career and he did not expect a chance in Bengali films after the success of Bajimaat. But, in next year he acted in Prem Aamar directed by Raj Chakraborty and produced by Shree Venkatesh Films ,which was a blockbuster and highest groccer in Bengali film’s history. After Prem Aamar he acted in films like Rahasya, Jeena, and Soldier which were commercially average.[1][5] His another super hit film Amanush released in 2010. The film was directed by Rajib Biswas. Chakraborty played the role of Vinod, an orphan who has suffered a lot of physical and mental torture in his childhood.[5]
Television
Soham also anchored in a reality show Twinkle Twinkle Dancing Star launched by makers of Chirodini...Tumi Je Amar, Prem Amar, Challenge and Amanush.[6] He was also the host of Parar Sera Bouthan, replacing Aneek Dhar, which airs on ETV Bangla.[7] The show is currently hosted by Aparajita Adhya.Soham has also appeared on television serial Bojhena Se Bojhena.
Politics
Chakraborty joined All India Trinamool Congress in 2015.[8] He contested in 2016 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election but lost.[9][10]
