Soft grunge

Soft grunge is a fashion trend that originated in 2010 as a form of 1990s appropriation. Soft grunge is a bowdlerization of early 1990s grunge culture, involving grunge fashions such as flannel and grunge from contemporary subculture and gothic ("goth") subculture.[1][2][3][4]

History

Soft grunge originated on Tumblr around 2010.[5]

Fashion imagery

Some hallmarks of "soft grunge" include: the usage of studs, platform sneakers, spikes, floral patterns, flannel, Jeffrey Campbell shoes, bands t-shirts, chokers, Vans, Converse and black clothing.

Bands and singers associated with the soft grunge or pastel goth style are Soda Bomb - Soft Grunge Lana Del Rey, Sky Ferreira, and Nirvana. [1][6]
