Smokefest Underground is the first independent album released by Snoop Doggy Dogg on May 19, 1998. It was recorded with several labelmates and released after Snoop Dogg had left Death Row, so it has no label endorsement. A video was shot earlier for the original single "Ride On" for the motion picture Caught Up. It was dedicated to Snoop Dogg's Smokefest World Tour concert tour. It was an attempt to legally endorse previously unreleased Death Row Records copyrighted material (which was later re-released by Suge Knight in Dead Man Walkin') under cover of a concert-recorded "live" album.
