Smartland is a private equity real estate firm headquartered in the City of Highland Heights, Ohio.[1] Founded in 2008, Smartland acquired bank-owned properties during the 2008 housing crisis. The companies initially focused on turnkey investment solution for professionals, property management, residential home remodeling and commercial contracting services.

History

Smartland’s history began in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2008 when a group of real estate professionals and investors founded Cleveland Restoration Group[2] and Cleveland Property Management[3]. Both companies operated through individually established partnerships, focusing on providing asset management solutions for local and global real estate investors.

Later on, Cleveland Real Estate Development and CPMG Realty were founded. The latter companies operated independently in partnership with Cleveland Restoration Group and Cleveland Property Management. In 2012, Smartland was formally established as a consortium of the four companies to streamline service experiences with real estate investment clients[4].

Cleveland Property Management[5] was acquired in 2015 by John Ludwick[6] (who helped launch Keller Williams Greater Cleveland[7]) and former Keller Williams' team leader Laird Wynn.

Today, Smartland continues to operate in the asset management and real estate development arenas of the United States. The company has also worked with youth on projects such as The Gertsberg Law Firm’s "We Solve Problems Essay Contest[8]" in which winner Jeremy Cavanaugh from Chagrin Falls High School won $1,000. The check was presented by Smartland CEO and chairman Vadim Kleyner, (the founder of Brelion)[9].
