Slightly Mad Studios is an independent British video game company headquartered in London, England. On 12 January 2009, the company acquired the business and assets of Blimey! Games.[1][2] In September 2009, Slightly Mad Studios released Need for Speed: Shift with Electronic Arts.[3]

Slightly Mad was ranked as the 17th most successful developer in the Develop 100 list for 2010.[4]

Slightly Mad Studios' development repertoire is composed solely of various racing games and simulators. Currently, Slightly Mad Studios is developing the sequel to its community-based racing simulator Project CARS.[5] This title was developed using community-based development, pre-alpha testing, and funding, in an attempt to bypass normal publishing costs. This was the first title of a series of similarly-developed games, and the process is now known as "World of Mass Development", or WMD.
