Slavko Goluža (born 17 September 1971) is a retired Croatian handball player. He is ex-coach and player of the Croatia national handball team and currently head coach of Slovakian Tatran Presov.[1]

Club career

Goluža was born in Stolac, SR BiH, Yugoslavia. He began his career in Mehanika Metković. At the age of 18 he moved to Zagreb-Chromos. Goluža won two European Champions Cup's as a player with RK Zagreb in 1992 and 1993.[2]

He won the EHF Cup with Metković Jambo in 2000 and the year later the club reached the final again.[3]

He also played in Germany for TuS Nettelstedt-Lübbecke, France for PSG and Hungary for Fotex Veszprém.

International career

He was a member of the Croatian national team that won Olympic gold medals two times: at the 1996 Summer Olympics and at the 2004 Summer Olympics. For over a decade he participated in all medals that Croatian team has won on World Championship (gold in 2003, silver in 1995 and 2005) and European Championship (bronze in 1994).

Coaching career

He was assistant coach of Lino Červar in Croatian national team from 2005 and 2010. Lino Červar went, and Goluža was appointed a head coach of national team. He also coached Croatian club Siscia (Sisak). In June 2017, he became the Slovakian Tatran Presov head coach. In two times, he coached RK Zagreb, but in 2017 he was interim manager for the SEHA League final four tournament.

Personal life

He is a supporter of HDZ. He was married for Iva Goluža, with whom he has a son.
