Sirish Gurung (born 11 August 1998) is a Nepalese competitive swimmer. He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, in the men's 100 metre freestyle.[1]

Apart from being a professional swimmer, Gurung is described as a child prodigy. Proficient in around 11 musical instruments, a rap artist, and with an exam aggregate percentage of 83%, Sirish Gurung has displayed his talent marvellously in many fronts. Gurung's parents (Sapana Gurung and Shree Ram Gurung) first recognised the wonder boy's talents when five-year-old little Sirish inquired if he could drive a car. Upon teaching him, little Sirish, just at the age of 6, was able to drive a car and a truck, and ride a bike effortlessly. His inquisitive and curious mind has taken him to places unprecedented for a Nepali boy.

Gurung is also known to have a passionate fascination for automobiles. He has modified his own bike (a Royal Enfield) and owns an MV Augusta, which he rides occasionally.

Sirish further establishes his versatility by describing himself as an artist who plays around 5 eastern instruments and 6 western ones. His famous rap track "Melamchi ko Pani" was an instant hit among the youth and attests to his artistry.

Besides his achievements, Gurung's demeanour awes the mind. His friends describe him humble and respectful, although occasionally playful and perpetually curious.

At the age of only 20, Gurung opened his own organisation titled the 'Sirish Foundation.', Upon having experiencing myriad of hindrances in his journey to becoming an Olympian, Gurung knew what he had to do. Knowing that Nepal was a country full of wonders and talent that go unrecognised, Gurung incepted this NGO to buttress budding talents to achieve their dream of becoming an accomplished sportsperson just like him. The NGO financiall supports a host of aspiring youths with potential and passion, and trains them to become the sportsperson of tomorrow. His NGO is one of a kind and has received the aid of many esteemed institutions, like HEMS Hospital.
