Singapore Immunology Network

The Singapore Immunology Network (Abbreviation: SIgN) was established on 10 February 2006 by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) under the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore.

History

The conceptualization of SIgN began in 2005 and by 2006, SIgN was established and appointed Prof Lam Kong Peng as the Founding Executive Director. Pioneer scientists such as Dr Wong Siew Cheng, Dr Jean-Pierre Abastado, Dr Subhra Kumar Biswas and Dr Alessandra Nardin also joined and set up the first few laboratory groups at SIgN thereafter.

On 15 January 2008, Mr S. Iswaran, Minister-of-State for Trade and Industry was the guest-of-honor at SIgN's Inauguration Ceremony.[1]

Since its launch SIgN has grown rapidly, and currently includes around 200 international scientists from 25 different countries of the world, working under 18 renowned Principal Investigators. 6000m2 of new laboratories and office space in the Immunos building at Biopolis is the home of SIgN.

Prof Lam Kong Peng was SIgN's Founding Executive Director from 2006-2008.

Prof Philippe Kourilsky was SIgN's Founding Chairman from 2006-2014.

Prof Paola Ricciardi-Castagnoli was SIgN's Scientific Director from 2007-2014.

Leadership

Prof Laurent Rénia joined SIgN as a Principal Investigator in 2008.

In 2013, he was appointed as SIgN's Acting Executive Director.

He has been the Executive Director of SIgN since 2014.
