Sindora siamensis[1] is a species of leguminous tree in the subamily Detarioideae. Like several other species in the genus Sindora, its wood is considered valuable; the 'least concern' conservation status[2] may reflect efforts to replant this species, but mortality rates are high.[3]
Varieties and Distribution
S. siamensis var. maritima (Pierre) K.Larsen & S.S.Larsen is an accepted name.[4]
S. siamensis is a large evergreen tree found in semi-deciduous, seasonal tropical forests in Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Large specimen trees and examples of replanting can be found in Cát Tiên National Park; its Vietnamese name is gụ mật.
