Wrestling career

Before wrestling,Harris's background was in basketball. In 1984, he started professional wrestling and first appeared as "Big John Harris" in Jerry Jarrett's Memphis-based CWA.[2] In 1985, he worked as "Little John" for Fritz Von Erich's World Class Championship Wrestling and acted as bodyguard for The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers).[3] He would then help The Fantastics win the tag team titles in March, 1987.[4]

In 1986 he had a short appearance for the American Wrestling Association as Silo Sam. He mainly wrestled in handicapped matches due to his size. He was interviewed by AWA's Ken Rensick and replied to questions with "Yup" every time. In 1987 he wrestled for WWF as Trapper John in a dark match in June 1987.[5] However, by 1990 he had retired from the sport.[2]

Harris played minor roles in several films, Tell Me a Riddle (film), Blood Circus (film) and Pee Wee's Big Adventure, as a jealous boyfriend who chased Pee Wee.[1]

Personal life

Harris married Rayola Johnson in the mid-'80s, and divorced a few short years later in Calvert County, Maryland. On April 19, 2005, he died at the age of 52.[2]
